Safe and sound
Consumers are entitled to safe, reliable and above all, tasty Zwanenberg meat products.
Meat is not only very tasty but is also very much in keeping with a conscious lifestyle. Zwanenberg pays plenty of attention to these and other aspects of meat. Via demonstrations, information lines and internet (www.vlees.nl), customers and consumers can find out all about meat products. ZFG meets all possible requirements in the field of food safety, such as HACCP, BRC (British Retail Consortium), etc.
Animal welfare
ZFG makes great demands on its suppliers in the field of quality, hygiene, business practice and animal welfare. ZFG is a member of the Crisis communication working group of the VNV branch organisation (Association for the Dutch deli meats industry) and has advocated an active dialogue with pressure groups and interest groups within this organisation, when it comes to animal welfare.
Meat and health
ZFG takes an active stance on the relationship between meat consumption and health. ZFG advocates eating meat within the framework of a healthy lifestyle: sensible eating and plenty of exercise.
Energy
All ZFG production locations work with an integrated company environmental plan and an energy saving plan. The sensible use of energy plays an important role within ZFG. Energy efficiency has increased strongly in the past ten years, also due to concentration of the production process at a smaller number of locations in the Netherlands.
Water
Water consumption has been rendered measurable at ZFG. Water used in the conservation process, is re-used in the sterilisation process; heat is recovered. There is constant monitoring on the basis of the efficiency index.
Waste
In recent years, we have insisted that our suppliers think along in terms of lighter weight packaging materials. This has had excellent results, particularly in the case of tins (packaging optimization), resulting in more efficient transport and reduced waste products. Pallets are also re-used and tertiary packaging materials are used less frequently.
